ABOUT

In 2012-2013 the province of Manitoba introduced the grade 12 course Global Issues: Citizenship and Sustainability.  The new course is inquiry based, meaning that students are encouraged to drive their own learning around at least three of 10 areas of inquiry. To complete the course, students must execute a community-based Take Action project related to the issue of their choice.

With this exciting course underway, The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) would like to offer students and teachers support as they take on this new opportunity. On this blog, you will find examples and ideas for Take Action projects, events and opportunities for students and educators, lesson planning resources, information about guest speakers, and more. Never hesitate to contact us with any questions! Some posts may appear in more than one section of the blog, and that is because social justice issues are interconnected and cross-cutting.

By connecting educators and youth with organizations and groups who are already working on issues of citizenship and sustainability, we hope that Take Action projects can build on some of the great work already happening in our province!
