OPPORTUNITY: Voices for Change – Spoken Word Project 2018

Are you or someone you know interested in spoken word? Have you ever watched or listened to a spoken word piece and felt inspired to use your voice to create change? Have you ever wanted the opportunity to explore the art more? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, we have an opportunity for you!

The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation presents:

Voices for Change – Spoken Word Project 2018

This project is open to young applicants (ages 14-24) residing in Manitoba with an interest in spoken word, or related skills like drama, poetry, writing, or hip-hop, and a passion for social justice.

Through the project, participants will attend 4 learning sessions in January 2018. In these sessions, participants will explore issues related to international development and the importance of gender equality, learn from and collaborate with a professional spoken word artist, record their original piece with a professional videographer, and perform in front of a live audience during International Development Week, February 4-11, 2018.

This is a great opportunity to explore international development issues and social justice through the arts – no prior experience is necessary!
Use your voice to create positive and sustainable change!
