We want you to be an Artist for Change!
Manitoba youth artists (12-30) are invited to submit their original artwork for a chance to be featured during International Development Week 2019 and win $500!
ARTISTS FOR CHANGE
The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation is inviting Manitoba youth artists, ages 12-30, to be Artists for Change.
In this contest, artists are asked to submit original artwork that focuses on the theme of gender equality with a connection to global experiences. Submitted work will have the chance to be featured during International Development Week 2019 and win $500!
Multiple pieces will be selected and featured at MCIC’s International Development Week 2019 event on February 5, 2019 at the Manitoba Legislative Building and on MCIC’s website and social media. The judges’ top choice will receive a prize of $500!
Artwork should be ‘visual art’ (drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, graphic design, sculptures, or ceramics).

Manitoba youth artists (12-30) are invited to submit their original artwork for a chance to be featured during International Development Week 2019 and win $500! Multiple pieces will be selected and featured at MCIC’s International Development Week 2019 event on February 5, 2019 at the Manitoba Legislative Building. The judges’ top choice will receive a prize of $500!
Submissions must center around the theme of gender equality with a connection to global experiences. Artwork must be classified as ‘visual art’ (drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, graphic design, sculptures, or ceramics). Selected artwork will also be featured on MCIC’s website and social media throughout International Development Week.
Submissions are due January 8, 2019.
CONTEST RULES
- Artists must be of legal residence of Manitoba, Canada and between the ages of 12-30 at the contest’s deadline (January 8, 2019).
- Submissions must be classified as ‘visual art’. This can include drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture, or ceramics.
- Submissions must be focused on the theme of gender equality with a connection to global experiences.
- Submissions must include a written description or explanation of how the piece relates to gender equality with a connection to global experiences (completed in the Google submission form).
- Submissions must be uploaded to the linked Dropbox folder on the Google form unless otherwise indicated.
- Applicants may submit one submission each. Artwork must be the original work of the artist submitting.
- *If the artwork is a part of a series, a maximum of 3 pieces can be included in the submission.
- Submitted artwork must have been created in the last two years (January 2017 – January 2019).
- One prize of $500 will be awarded to the judges’ top choice.
- Selected artists will be notified mid-January, 2019.
USE RIGHTS
Artists who submit their artwork to MCIC’s Artists for Change and have any of their submitted artwork chosen for participation in the subsequent art exhibition agree to the following: That MCIC be granted usage of the chosen artwork for display, marketing and promotional purposed during International Development Week 2019 and that usage of that image(s) is limited to any MCIC news releases, event presentations, articles, slideshows, event materials and for use on MCIC website and social media.
MCIC will credit each artist with their full name, age, and location. The original artist shall maintain all copyrights of any artwork that is submitted to MCIC. No resale of or exchange of artwork will occur by MCIC. All artwork featured is the property of the artist and the artist retains the sole copyright and all applicable rights to said artwork.
