Become a Fair Trade school

Join the Fair Trade movement!

In Manitoba, Fair Trade Schools like Technical Vocational High School and St. James Collegiate are part of a growing community committed to trade justice and social change. The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) supports schools in achieving Fair Trade designation, supporting students and teachers and connecting them to global issues like gender equality, poverty reduction, and labour rights.

Why Become a Fair Trade School?

Students, like many Manitobans, are concerned about where their treats come from, who produces them, and at what cost. They are socially conscious and ready to make a difference. Schools which decide to become Fair rade are part of a social movement that advocates for fair wages, safe working conditions, and community development for farmers and workers worldwide. Partners like Fairtrade Canada, the Canadian Fair Trade Network, and l’Association québécoise du commerce équitableoffer Fair Trade designation programs for schools, campuses, towns, workplaces, and faith groups. These programs promote Fairtrade product availability and educate communities about trade justice.

In a Fair Trade School, students engage in a real-world learning experiences that teach both environmental and social responsibility.
