Happy New Year! With the new decade comes an opportunity for reflection, and a fresh new start for our global goals! Here at MCIC, we have been starting strong in this New Year with continued commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  Also known as the Global Goals, the SDGs were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a call to action and to provide a shared blueprint for people, planet, peace, prosperity, and partnership by 2030. Familiarize yourself with all 17 goals with this video! We are ten years away from the target year of 2030 to achieve these goals. This milestone is an amazing opportunity to revamp our efforts of working towards the SDGs.

Jennifer Janzen of the University of Winnipeg Collegiate has been leading by example and teaching her students with an exciting SDG themed project: a t-shirt design show! Her students clocked in the New Year with an SDG themed art show, related to environmental awareness and sustainability. It was named the C.A.A T-Shirt Project: A Key to a Successful Future, and incorporated design, fashion, and the SDGs to create a truly unique project.

Each student designed a logo for a t-shirt based on an Environmental issue that they were curious about, and the results were stunning! The work was displayed in an art show from December until early January. The t-shirts were a huge success, getting her students curious and engaged in an aspect of environmental sustainability that really interested them. Check out the photos below to see some of the amazing designs yourself, and get inspiration for unique ways to incorporate the SDGs into all streams of education! Great job Jennifer!
